YachtMaster Shorebased Theory Course

advanced course in navigation.
Yachtmaster is appropriate for boaters who have
completed the DaySkipper course or who have a background of sailing, motor
cruising, or offshore racing. The knowledge gained through this course is
essential in order in order to sail or cruise safely, day and night, and to pass the
sea based RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Coastal or Yachtmaster Offshore examinations. The course is tough and not appropriate for novices who would struggle.
You must be prepared for homework assignments.
Course content includes Compass and chart navigation; GPS and Plotter navigation (the document package includes the RYA plotting software simulator); Tide vectors and heights, including secondary ports, and across time zones; Buoyage; Lights; Collision regulations, IRPC's in some depth; Safety and Rescue at sea; Meteorology; Pilotage and Passage planning.
A wide syllabus, with tough questions, which benefits from involvement with others.

Yachtmaster comprises 22 evenings of 2 hours over the autumn and winter
months completed as you plan your trips for the following year.
Course teaching is supported using RYA document and access to online
simulations and slide shows.
